The second music video I put together during the pandemic and posted on YouTube was “Georgia on My Mind,” by Hoagy Carmichael and Stuart Gorrell.
This recording features vocals by Luther Schutz of Mount Vernon, Washington, set to my guitar arrangement. I’ve known Luther in music circles for decades now, having performed with him and a gang of others who, at times, were known as “Cry Baby and the Pillar of Fire” (long story—don’t ask).
I recorded the guitar track in my home in Duvall, Washington, then traveled an hour north to Mount Vernon to record Luther’s part. Both of us having maintained strict quarantine, it felt safe setting up and monitoring the recording in his home—one of just a few times I’d ventured into anyone’s home.
